Grand County, in the heart of Colorado, has shown exceptional sensitivity towards the provision of jobs, housing, healthcare and other amenities to the population of the County. The County endeavors to make the necessary efforts and strives for the welfare of the community and deserves kudos for the same.

The Town of Grand Lake and it’s Creative District have been selected as a Space to Create Project, which is a collaborative effort of multiple organizations to provide affordable workforce housing and working spaces for creative sector entrepreneurs and artists in rural, small-town and mountain communities in Colorado. This is the first state-driven initiative in the U.S. for affordable housing for artists. Space to Create Colorado will advance mixed-use projects that blend affordable live/workspace for artists and their families with non-residential space for creative enterprises and organizations that serve a critical community need.

Artspace, as one of the key partners, provides market, feasibility and predevelopment consulting services on behalf of Space to Create Colorado. Each of the projects will be customized to meet community needs for workforce housing and commercial space for creative sector entrepreneurs, artists, and arts-friendly organizations and has initiated a survey to get its finger on the pulse of the populace. Affordable Live, Work & Space is the survey which all Grand County residents and other interested creatives in the region, should take, with the aim of helping determine what type of housing and workspace is desired. The community grows, healthy and wealthy, when they live in a healthy environment with adequate resources of income and an enjoyable neighborhood. Please get involved by taking the survey and letting other creatives throughout Colorado know about this opportunity to be heard.
