Shadow Mountain Lake

The Mountains are calling, where are you? Contemplating a mountain hike consumes more time and pushes itself back in the schedule than anything else. The journey begins, be it ten miles or a thousand, but with a single step. Do not forget, it is not the mountains that you conquer, but rather you gain control of yourself. Life beckons from the Mountain trail of Shadow Mountain Lake, put on your boots and get on to the trail. Come to a place where you feel alive, come to the Shadow Mountain Lake in Grand County, Colorado. Return to nature to help you soothe and heal. A place where you can lose your mind but find your soul. The entire trail length is almost 10 miles and is graded as strenuous in Trail Difficulty rating. However, no one compels you to take the entire trail in one go. Due to rapid rise in elevation, approx. 1600 feet, you would be amazed to witness the panoramic views and occasional flora and fauna. The destination of the trail leads to the Shadow Mountain Lookout, a three storied structure, built in 1933 and manned for almost 35 years. It is now added to the National Register of Historic Places, restored in the mid 90’s to make it the only surviving fire lookout in the Rocky Mountain National Park Those amongst you who dare to reach this spot would be awarded with spectacular views of the Shadow Mountain Lake, Grand Lake, the Never Summer Mountains, and the towering mountains that span the Continental Divide. There have been reports that the catwalk located in the third story was closed due to rotting of the wood. Exercise caution and embark on the same only if it is safe to do so. A more graphical and routine description of the trail could have been depicted, but we do not want to dampen the spirit of adventure in you and encourage you to go ahead and explore the same yourself and surprise yourself.Wonder wander and last but not the least Repeat. The Mountains are calling, where are you?
