The Communications Division for the Sheriff’s Office serves as a vital support network. Employees in this division act as the liaisons between the public and the departments they serve, performing the essential duties ranging in nature from noise complaints and medical calls to serious crime reports, wildland fires and automobile accidents. These officers receive, categorize and monitor calls and dispatch radio communications to the appropriate agencies.
This is a high-tension, high-stakes position that requires quick thinking and the ability to maintain composure. Strong, clear and efficient verbal communication skills are fundamental to this profession as well as the ability to read maps and have a basic understanding of technology.
