POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Activities Manager will assist the Director of Activities in the operation of summer and winter activities, Adventure Concierge Program, and the year-round guide business.  This position manages the guest, employee, and finanical performance of the activities business. This individual will work with the activities director to provide strategic insight for future products to help grow the business as well as monitor daily operations with an emphasis on the core values of collaboration, authenticity, performance and empowerment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for the overall management of all operations for the activities division.
  • Assist in strategic insight and long-term planning, including capital projects, and development opportunities.
  • Create policies and procedures that are specific to the activities division and align with our values and key strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and company policies with respect to workplace safety and work to achieve a zero-incident safety record.
  • Manage the operation, set-up, take-down, storage, and maintenance of all summer activities.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, coaching, development, termination, employee evaluations and personnel changes.
  • Assist in development of and implementation of training programs for all resort activities.

 

Summer Operations

  • Construct and help oversee the daily operations and coordination of summer operations.
  • Assist in coordination of staff to include hiring, terminations, scheduling, uniforms, rewards & recognitions, wage reviews, performance reviews and corrective coaching.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining a safe and enjoyable summer program experience for all guests.
  • Ensure that all employees are working in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Analyze ways to expand operations to maximize guest experience and financial performance.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance of operations to maximize operating hours and conditions.

 

Adventure Concierge and Guided Tours

  • Oversee the daily operations and coordination of the Adventure Concierge, and guided tours. Including the operation of the Adventure and Supply Co. Store.
  • Assist in coordination of staff to include hiring, terminations, scheduling, uniforms, rewards & recognitions, wage reviews, performance reviews and corrective coaching.
  • Responsible for setting policy and procedures and accordance with Winter Park Resort and all relevant state and federal laws.
  • Ensure that all employees are working in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Analyze ways to expand operations to maximize guest experience and financial performance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Some college desired.

 

Experience:

  • Five years resort management experience
  • Two years of operations experience or similar

 

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access and Word
  • Working knowledge of Workday systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

 

Office Environment:

  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 40 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.

Mountain Environment:

  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc…
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Occasionally lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is needed.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude.   Noise generated by lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

WAGE:  

The base hourly pay/salary range below represents the low and high end of Winter Park Resort’s hourly pay/salary range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Winter Park Resort’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include many region-specific benefits.

Salary/hourly pay range: $54,061 – $77,848/annually
