Barista

Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager / Food & Beverage Director

Department: Food & Beverage

Status: Full-Time Seasonal

Rate: $19 an hour + tips

Position Summary:

The Barista delivers exceptional guest service by expertly preparing beverages and food in a warm, welcoming, and efficient manner. This role plays a key part in creating a positive guest experience through quality, consistency, and a friendly attitude.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Take guest orders and prepare food and beverages according to specified standards
  • Process cash and credit card transactions accurately
  • Ensure the café is fully stocked with necessary supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of all café equipment; report any issues or malfunctions daily
  • Comply with all Colorado state health codes and safety regulations

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional guest service in all interactions with guests, team members, and management
  • Assist and support other departments during races, events, and high-volume periods
  • Maintain cleanliness of garbage and recycling areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques used in First Chair Café, with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues
  • Understanding of espresso extraction, dialing in, and filter brewing processes
  • Basic knowledge of espresso machines and drip brewer operations
  • Familiarity with espresso beverages, drip coffee, and tea preparation
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and learn new processes
  • Understanding of café workflow and operations
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proactive, quick-thinking, and team-oriented mindset
  • Strong guest service focus and willingness to assist others

Education, Experience & Certifications:

  • TIPS Certified (or equivalent) preferred
  • ServSafe Certified (or equivalent) preferred
  • Familiarity with Colorado state health codes and liquor laws
  • Experience with kitchen and food & beverage equipment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 1 year of café or restaurant experience preferred
  • Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Primarily indoor work with occasional outdoor duties (trash removal, cleaning)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
