Job Description
Do you enjoy the great outdoors, fresh mountain air, and a lakeside environment?
Neil and Sky Gerlowski of Spirit Lake Landscaping are accepting applications for Landscape Maintenance Technicians to work with us in Grand Lake, Colorado from May until early November. Min hourly rates of 20+ dollars per hour, depending on employee package. On-the-job training is available for a team that will work directly with us and is appreciated and treated like family!
Ideally, we will hire full-time Landscape Maintenance Technicians to work directly with us from roughly mid-May until early November. Between spring cleanup and fall clean-up, the majority of our work will be turf maintenance which means lots of mowing and weed-whacking. It’s hard physical work, but personally, we enjoy the exercise and being outdoors around Grand Lake. Work hours are variable, but mostly M-F from roughly 8 am to around 5 pm with occasional longer days or weekend work. The target workload is 40 hours per week, but we often need to go beyond this to fulfill our client obligations (overtime paid at time and a half) and occasionally have less than 40 hours, especially if weather sets us back.
Position duties may include:
– Maintaining turf areas (aerating, cultivating, mowing, trimming, weeding, mulching…)
– Operating, maintenance, and service of equipment (vehicles, mowers, weed-whackers…)
– Trimming of small trees, shrubs, hedges…
– Application of fertilizers and/or pesticides
– Gardening, raking, digging, litter removal, cleaning, leaf removal…
– Irrigation system maintenance and service
– Record keeping (work orders, timesheets…)
– Other duties as assigned
Demands of the position to consider:
– Outdoor work in a high altitude mountain environment with highly variable temperatures and conditions
– Managing exposure to weather, noises, odors, fertilizers, pesticides, and other challenges
– A range of duties and movements which may include long periods of walking, standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, bending, stooping…
– Completing duties on schedule and up to company standards and expectations
– Flexibility in a range of assignments
– Maintaining positive and professional relationships with clients, coworkers, the local community, and visitors
Thank you for taking the time to complete an application to work with us this summer! We hope to speak with you soon!
