Job Description
Location: KFFR Studios, Fraser, Colorado
Type: Part-Time (10 hours/week, on-site)
Reports to: Executive Director
About KFFR
KFFR 88.3FM is Grand County’s nonprofit community radio station. With more than 50 volunteer DJs and a mission to unite our community through music, news, and local voices, we provide a unique hub for connection and creativity.
Position Overview
KFFR is seeking a Volunteer and Event Manager to strengthen our community connections, expand participation, and raise awareness of the station. This part-time role will focus on event planning, volunteer coordination, and outreach efforts that highlight KFFR as a cornerstone of community life.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Management
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate in-studio and remote events.
- Serve as a point of contact for DJs, volunteers, and community partners.
- Organize event logistics: scheduling, communications, task assignments, and coordination with staff.
- Manage shared systems (Google Drive, iCloud, Trello) to keep event details organized.
Community & Business Partnerships
- Support the Underwriting Manager in coordinating with businesses and sponsors.
- Work with the production team to ensure event promotion on-air.
- Collaborate with marketing and remote support teams for event promotion on social media, website, and print.
Volunteer & DJ Coordination
- Recruit and coordinate DJs for events, including emceeing and live broadcasts.
- Assist in scheduling substitutes and new DJ training when needed.
- Help implement community outreach strategies to attract new volunteers.
Studio & Member Engagement
- Provide on-site support during office hours: greet walk-ins, give tours, and assist members with merchandise.
- Help maintain a welcoming, professional space (light cleaning, organization, event setup).
- Support the Director and staff with small tasks and projects.
Special Events at KFFR
- When needed, source bands and artists for monthly in-house performances
- When needed, source public speakers, MCs, or instructors for special events.
- Coordinate with artists, sponsors, and DJs for in-studio concerts.
- Oversee logistics, schedules, and promotional support.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
- Proven experience in event planning, outreach, or volunteer coordination.
- Comfortable working with Apple computers, Google Workspace, iCloud, and Trello.
- Familiarity with social media and digital promotion tools.
- Creative, outgoing, and enthusiastic about community engagement.
- Ability to represent KFFR professionally with businesses, community groups, and the public.
- Self-starter with initiative, flexibility, and collaborative spirit.
- Soft skills: communication, negotiation, team collaboration, emotional intelligence.
- Bonus: familiarity with audio, radio, or nonprofit/community media.
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: Hourly, commensurate with experience.
- Schedule: Flexible part-time, approx. 10 hours per week, with some evenings/weekends required for events.
