Position Description – Trail Crew 

Reports To: Sr. Manager of Slope Maintenance 

Department: Trails 

Status: Full Time/Seasonal (April through mid-Oct) 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Trail Crew position is responsible for maintaining cross country and downhill bike trails, managing water diversion where necessary, clearing trails of down trees and debris, fire watch for burn piles, and other trail work as assigned. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Maintainand improve cross country and downhill bike trails at Granby Ranch. 
  • Remove and clear trees, pick up and remove rocks and other debris from bike and ski trails.
  • Maintainwooden features within bike park. 
  • Construct newtrails asdirected by the supervisor. 
  • Build water diversion structuresmaintainexisting drainages. 
  • Assistwith trail maintenance for community trail systems. 
  • Assistin trail improvements for ski runs including but not limited to revegetation, water bar improvements, boundary post placements, mowing of ski trails, and other summer trail improvements. 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Act as a positive, professional role model, adhering to the company’s hospitality standards.
  • Maintainan exceptional level of guest service in all interaction with guests, fellow employees, and management. 
  • Look for better ways to serve the organization.
  • Assistand support other departments for races, events and operations on high volume days. 
  • Mayoperateheavy equipment including, but not limited to, skid steer, back-hoe, mini-excavator, four-wheeler, or mules. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Talking to others to convey information effectively. 
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. 
  • Actively looking for ways to help people. 
  • Speak, read, write in English fluently. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • Must be at least18years of age. 
  • Previouswork outside required. 
  • Previoustrail building work preferred. 
  • Previousexperience operating skid steer preferred. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Must be able tolift upto 50lbs. 
  • Requires physical conditioning to perform physically demanding tasks ataltitudethroughout 10-hour shift including core and arm strength to utilize hand tools such as spud bar, pick, shovel, etc. 
  • Dexterity for handling tools such as shovel, rake, pick, spud bar.
  • Stand and walk/hikefor duration of10 hour shift. 
  • Reaching, bending, sitting, standing, carrying, lifting, using ladders.
  • Verbal and auditory abilitiesnecessaryfor communication with others. 
  • Flexible work schedule, availability on weekends, evenings and holidaysrequired.
